Frequently Asked Questions
-
Classical Christian education is an ancient educational philosophy that cultivates wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. It follows the Trivium (grammar, logic, and rhetoric), guiding students through age-appropriate stages of learning. At Coram Deo, every subject is taught in light of Scripture, forming students to think deeply, love rightly, and live faithfully. Please see our “Why Classical Christian Education” page to read further.

Our hybrid schedule combines three on-campus days of classical instruction with two guided home-learning days. Teachers equip parents with lesson plans, weekly pacers, and support so learning continues seamlessly at home.
-
We offer the collaborative program from Kindergarten through 12th grade, adapting the Trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric) to each developmental stage.
-
In the Lower School, students begin each day in Bible study and catechisms, followed by a rich study of multiple subjects, including a focused engagement on music and art each week. In the Upper School, students begin each day gathered together for prayer, Scripture reading, and corporate singing. Students then begin a full schedule of academic learning and discussion, including a wide variety of electives as well as study hall and chess.
-
Parents facilitate reading, written assignments, hands-on projects, and family discussions. Each teacher provides structured pacers and clear instructions for all assigned work.
-
Students are assessed by their teachers through a variety of methods, including essays, oral arguments, tests, projects, and exams. Our goal is mastery, not mere performance. Teachers provide meaningful feedback to encourage growth in knowledge, character, and skill.
-
As per our Latin name, every subject at Coram Deo takes place “before the face of God.” Therefore, the standards of Scripture dictate every teacher’s approach to his or her respective discipline. History is taught as God’s unfolding story, science as the study of His creation, and literature as windows to truth, goodness, and beauty.
-
Students gather daily for catechisms, Scripture reading, and singing. In addition, students attend chapel each month. We host several school-wide community events on a regular basis, and our House System, led by four Head Prefects selected from the student body, organizes our Upper School events, including our fall dance, our spring formal, our House Olympics, and other fun events for the student body. Local service and community opportunities are also available within our House competition.
-
We offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities for our students, including chorale, theatre, chess club, running club, and more. In addition, as a collaborative school, our students have the flexibility and freedom to participate in local athletic or arts organizations without detracting from their academic experience at CDCS.
